This portion of the website will focus on the use and application of household robotoic vacuums today.

Introduction :

All robotic vacuums are designed with the consumer in mind. They are created to take the stress and duty from house cleaning. Every robotic vacuum is small enough to clean hard to clean places and to automatically avoid any furniture or walls that may be in its way. Each robot is equipped with sensors that help to navigate it across a variety of surfaces such as tiles, wood and carpet. These vacuums are generally efficient and should be making their way into thousands of homes in the next few years.

What's available now:

iRobot Roomba
Samsung VC-RP30W

Sharper Image eVac

Electrolux Trilobite
Black & Decker Zoombot
Karcher RC3000

The present:

The first type of robotic vacuums is the RC3000 Karcher RoboCleaner. This clever robot uses optical sensors and spring-bearing wheels to help guide it on both hard wood floors and carpets. It is also equipped with special Anti-fall sensors that prevent the robot from falling down the stairs. The sensors help the robot from crashing into walls or any other obstacles that may be in its way. The RoboCleaner can vacuum and clean up to 160 square feet an hour. This robotic vacuum even has a base station, as it automatically returns to this base station as soon as detects a low battery or if its container is filled up to its maximum capacity. The robotic vacuum is able to find its way back to its base station with the help of its special navigation beam. Once it has reached its base station, it will automatically charge the batteries enough for a full 60 minutes of cleaning. This robotic vacuum is highly unique as it actually disposes of its dirt container into it's own filter bag which is set at the base station. This allows the homeowner to have "no contact with dirt" as the makers of this amazing robotic vacuum boasts.

This next type of robotic vacuum was actually the first automatic vacuum to become available to consumers in the United States. The Roomba 4105 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner was actually designed with the technology of the U.S. Department of Defense. This vacuum was created by iRobot who have also created products for the U.S. military. This vacuum cleans room in a spiral fashion as its side brushes can sweep right up against a wall and under furniture. The Roomba actually has set cleaning time and will actually clean until this time limit is reached. It vacuums in straight lines to achieve the maximum amount of floor space. The Roomba is unique in its own way as it is able to clean a variety of surfaces including carpet, wood, linoleum and tile. This allows the robotic vacuum to be adaptable on almost every hard surface that a consumer's home may have.

The Electrolux Trilobite is "bat-like" as it uses ultrasound to navigate itself around the house just as bats do when they are flying. This vacuum emits ultrasound vibrates at a rate of 60,000 Hz to help itself clean hard to reach places and to avoid walls and stairs. However, this vacuum also needs to have the consumer place special magnetic strips in doorways, stairs or any other openings. Only after this is done will the Electrolux Trilobite have an easier time navigating around the house. This vacuum has four motors designed to move each wheel underneath the vacuum, its one brush and one fan. This vacuum uses very sophisticated technology and its creators sell it with sex appeal as they call it having a very "sexy design" which will help consumers to want to show off their product instead of keeping it "locked away in a cupboard."

The eVac from Sharper Image is different looking than most other vacuums. Instead of being round and flat, the eVac weighs about 7 lbs and is accompanied with 5-inch wheels making it anything but flat. This eVac uses touch sensors to prevent it from colliding into anything that might be in its way. This vacuum has a remote control that can control any and all of this robotic vacuum's functions. It also includes sensors that specialize it preventing it from falling down stairs. This vacuum is unique as it has a special mode called the "Spot clean mode" which targets the clean up of spots on any surface. This vacuum looks like the king of all vacuums as it is larger in size, but lacks in mobility because of this.
