5 Ways We are Having FUN in Botball!Type 1: Mathematics and Sciences Geniuses For incredibly intelligent Homo sapien sapiens, Botball provides a distinct challenge to their mental abilities. They analyze intricacies upon which others would never think. These interesting human beings could probably calculate the time it would take light to travel from here to Venusin less time than the answer. Can you imagine the inspiration that Botball would bring to these human beings? By the way, you can be one of them. Just divide 4.7×1010 meters by 3.0×10 meters/second with a calculator. Just to be clear, most geniuses are not walking, talking calculators; they are the ones who invent the calculators. Type 2: Leaders There are those among us who are charismatic. They come in combinations of diverse characteristics. Some have learned to be leaders; some are naturals. One thing they all have in common: they know a lot about people, though they might not know they know it. Unfortunately, we can't come up with a math question for this, so here is the next best thing: Do you want to be a leader and will you try? Think about it. Unfortunately, since the question is not a math question, we can't answer it. Yes, you'll have to do some thinking. Type 3: Managers In a way, people who manage resources, people, and time are mathematicians in their own right. But then again, we do know that all of these types are interconnected, right? Here another fun question: If you have four people who are each willing to do one task, how many ways are there to assign the tasks to them? Well, since most of us are considerate (and like an easy question), the answer would be one, because we would match each person with the task they want to do. However, if one wants the mathematical challenge, the answer may be 4×3×2×1. Type 4: Correspondents These people connect the group with the outside world and the outside world with the group. They bring news to the mix and keep team members current about meetings and deadlines. Question: look on our website and find our next meeting date. The answer will vary (rather fortunate that dates will vary, isn't it). Type 5: Toys What, did you expect that we'd stay serious the whole time? Who do you think we are? Nobody? For many of us, the chance to play with sophiscated toys is rather enticing. According to John Romanishin (Botball designer extraordinaire), Botball is a very good excuse to play with toys.
