Hello Everyone, Welcome to ESD’s Robotics Club website.
The ESD Robotics Club is currently building and programming robots that will be able to compete in the robotics competition known as Botball. We have to build an autonomous robot (one that is not controlled by a human) that can maneuver in an obstacle course using sensors and locators in order to gather objects. The robots are programmed to look for and recognize three different colors (red, green, and yellow) and to be able to pick up and locate these balls of varying sizes and colors. Botball is a double-elimination tournament with each match lasting only ninety seconds. In this short amount of time we will try to have our robots rack up the most points as well as hindering the opposing robot(s) from scoring. It is perhaps the greatest engineering endeavor since the Titanic. This is our first year so we are working on establishing the groundwork for a better performance next year. The competition is in Oklahoma on February 25 and we are hoping to do well. For more information about the members of the ESD Robotics Team, refer to the biography page link at the top of this page, or to learn more about the competition itself visit the Botball website.
