The Aiken Basin is the largest impact crater in the solar system measuring 2500 kilometer in diameter, and is about 12 kilometers deep. For this reason, searching the landscape remains a daunting task.
It is riddled with impact craters ranging from big to small. Although some of the craters may prove to be a hinderance, we are confident that Spero will be able to manuuver past them to get to it's goal. Unlike the rest of the moon, the Aiken Basin appears to be made up of mostly iron. Fortunately, while the composition of the basin is unsure, it's true nature does not matter to us along as the basin is not comprised of molton rock.
Although the surface of the basin may be sandy, exploration by proior landings has determined that the moon's surface is capable of supporting a lunar rover, and even a landing module.
