HIGH...WEEK 4...
February 28, 2005
Mark Crabtree, our mentor came in and worked
with the construction crew. They attached the scoop, made sure that it was
tight, and wouldn't fall off. They tested the robot so far, and then victor
built a rough design of the stem of the claw.
They students continued to stay in at lunch as well as 3rd period (Anna,
German and victor) and worked on the robot.
Programming team was assisted by Jeremie Santos. The boys did their previous
research, and Jeremie planned a little tutorial of his own to show the boys,
of which they learned some basics in programming.

Since the stem of the claw was nearly
unstable, Anna revised it, and made it stronger using different pieces of
support.
The construction crew attached the claw, however it was wobbly, and they
weren't sure about the mechanics of it.
After school, Katherine and Mentor Arthur came in for nearly 3 hours, until 6
pm, contemplating on how they would make the mechanical design of the claws,
and how it would work on its own. They ended up using pistons, and will attach
a motor later on.
March 2 2005
Katherine got a head start on the robot, by coming in 2nd period, and continuing
the claw.
During advisory, all the construction team was working on the robot since today
was the deadline for the construction team.
Anna and Katherine as well as Mark figured how to build the base of the robot.
Also how to attach the handy board and claw to the robot, (claw was helped later
on in 4th period by Arthur).
The students worked all day, well to nearly the end of school, but it was worth
it. Tomorrow, we will attach all the parts of the robot, and let programming
begin their magic.

Today, the construction team really
progressed. Although they did not meet their deadline, they are more dedicated
than ever to accomplish the robot.. "scorpion".. They have an idea how to
attach the claw on to the base, and how to attach the handy board to the base
also, so that it works with the claw.
The Construction team has been working since advisory with Arthur Torres all
through 4th period, switching students, so they all worked with Arthur. Arthur
suggested when the robot or claw wouldn't work, then we had to modify it,
which was hard at first, but now that we have the hang of the pieces and how
they work, its becoming much easier.
