FUTURE HOUSEHOLD ROBOTICS
Personal
Robot
In the near future the idea of a personal robot sounds very appealing to me,
a robot that could make my breakfast in the morning, to cook my dinner at night.
A robot that would revolutionize the way I live today as well as the things
that I do on a day-to-day basis. But the robot would be self learning and would
understand my needs, using predictive technology. And it would to all of the
washing, drying and ironing there is to be done without a complaint. Because
this robot would be self learning it would learn from its surroundings and therefore
adapt to any task. This robot should be able to maintain all of the plumbing
and electrical systems in a house so that our lives are easier.
Nano-technology
Also in the future I anticipate that people would like robots to do repetitive
tasks that do not require a personal, human touch. A perfect example of this
would be the basic cleaning of the house or office. People like a clean environment
to work and live in but don’t want to put the effort into making sure
it is always kept clean therefore, someone is going to create a robot that is
always alert and able to take care of the home, and/or office. But with the
use of nanotechnology, there will be a lot more items in our environment that
will be self-cleaning or stain resistance. To the level of having a pair of
pants the will never have to be washed because of the nanotechnology that has
been put into the fabric and programmed to be stain and crease resistance, therefore
eliminating washing, drying, and ironing, some of the mundane tasks of life.
It could then be taken that to a level of self-cleaning carpets, tiles, walls
and ceiling. You can put the nanotechnology in the paint, walls, or fibres.
It’s your choice and how much you can afford. Nanotechnology and robotics
has had, and will still have, a profound effect on the healthcare industry.
Pricing
As time progresses there maybe different types of robots manufactured for different
tasks, at different costs, for example there maybe a specialized in robotic
vacuums and then one in robotic Chaffer. They will be at a different price because
of its programming capacity.
Power Sources
Many of the above things I have stated will only work well when our robots can
utilize renewable sources of energy like solar power, and the undiscovered natural
resources. We have solar energy in only some parts of the country and in the
other parts of the country we need to find an environmentally safe alternative.
Which could be anything from water to wind, all we have to do now is come up
with a system that is compatible with water or wind to the robot.
Time Frame
I imagine all of this happening between now and 30 years from now. Innovating
will come from the discovery of lighter metals and new sources of energy. In
conclusion I think that the world of robots is growing and expanding so fast
that soon people will not even know what our current world is like.
